The Madrid girls’ cross country team captured the team championship Monday, September 28, at the Ogden meet at Don Williams Park.
The Tigers scored 70 points to edge Boone by a single point for the championship.
Boone finished with 71 points, while Collins-Maxwell was third with 83.
Grand View Christian placed fourth with 117, and Woodward-Granger rounded out the top five with 140 points.
Madelyn Grothus led the way for Madrid with a runner-up finish.
Grothus covered the course in 19 minutes, 4.49 seconds to place second overall.
Hannah Brandhorst gave Madrid another top-10 performance, finishing ninth in 20:42.29.
Charis Peasley placed 15th with a time of 21:35.36, while Jordyn Adams finished 20th in 21:59.76.
Adelyn White completed Madrid’s scoring five, placing 37th in 23:18.69.
Those five scoring runners were enough to give Madrid the narrow one-point victory.
Alaina Dvorak finished 44th in 24:04.42, and Ari Mundy was 51st in 24:37.28.
Ella Hutchinson placed 69th in 25:58.61, Kimee Smith finished 72nd in 26:17.15, and Alyssa Sonnenfelt was 115th in 33:44.03.

Madrid will next travel to the Jewell Golf and Country Club on Thursday, October 8, to compete in the Jim Klein Cross Country Invitational, hosted by South Hamilton.
