
BOONE, Iowa—Cindy Holmes, age 63, of Boone, passed away Thursday, October 1, 2026 at her home.
Cindy was born July 29, 1963, in Little Rock, Arkansas, the daughter of Antonio and Constance (Larrew) Silva. She spent her childhood in North Carolina, but lived in Panama for awhile and other places, while her father served in the US Army. Cindy graduated from 71st High School in Fayetteville, NC in 1981.
She married Jor’l Campbell in March 1983, and to this union three children were born. They later divorced. Cindy was united in marriage to Don Holmes on December 18, 2000, in Boone.
Cindy was a stay-at-home mom until 1996, when she started at Walmart. She retired from Walmart in 2020, after nearly 25 years. She has been “GG’s uber” to her grandkids for the last six years.
Cindy attended baking school when she was younger and was currently teaching her granddaughter how to bake. Some of Cindy’s other hobbies and interests consisted of collecting gnomes and giraffes, reading, volunteering at vacation bible school, and spending time by the ocean. Her favorite movie was Pretty Woman and tv show was Lucifer. Cindy was currently learning how to speak Korean and Chinese. Above all else, Cindy loved spending time with her family and traveling to see her relatives and reminiscing down memory lane.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Clarence Silva.
Cindy is survived by her husband of almost 26 years, Don Holmes; three children, Melissa (Chris) Winsor, Chris Campbell and Steven Campbell; three grandchildren, Noah, Logan and Natilee; two brothers, Tony (Denise) Silva and Jonny Silva; five nieces and one nephew; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Visitation will be held Thursday, October 8, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel, 1006 6th Street, Boone. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 9, 2026, at 10:30 AM at the Boone Open Bible Church, 1224 Hancock Drive, Boone, with Pastor Phil Waldo officiating. Burial will be in Linwood Park Cemetery, Boone.
