
The Boone football team ran into a strong Council Bluffs Lewis Central team Friday, October 3, as the Toreadors fell 50-0 in a district matchup at Lewis Central High School in Council Bluffs.
Boone quarterback Abel Tungesvik completed 14 of 28 passes for 82 yards.
Braxton Gifford hauled in six passes for 41 yards, while Ryder Hilsabeck finished with four receptions for 31 yards.
Maddox McIntyre caught three passes for six yards and led Boone’s rushing attack with 12 yards on 16 carries.
Ashten Petersen added four rushing yards on two carries and made one reception for four yards.
While Boone was unable to find the end zone, its defense came up with three takeaways.
Gifford provided two of them with a pair of interceptions, while Trent Eckard recovered a fumble and recorded three tackles.
RJ Lennon led the Toreadors with four total tackles.
Anthony Heenan finished with 3.5 tackles, followed by Eckard with three and Patrick Houser with 2.5.
McIntyre added two tackles.
The loss dropped Boone to 2-4 overall and 0-2 in district play, while Lewis Central improved to 4-2 overall and 2-0 in the district.
Boone will remain on the road for another trip to Council Bluffs when the Toreadors face Council Bluffs Thomas Jefferson on Friday, October 9, at Gale Wickersham Athletic Complex.
Thomas Jefferson enters the matchup 0-6 overall and 0-2 in district play, making Friday’s game an opportunity for one of the two teams to pick up its first district victory of the season.
