Edge Boone Site Plan Moves to City Council

KWBG 10/12/26

BOONE, Iowa—The Boone City Plan and Zoning Commission has recommended approval of a site plan for Edge Boone LLC for a new commercial business at 1920 Lakewood Drive. This is the proposed colocation project presented by Lightedge Solutions LLC.

The Commission met Monday morning at Boone City Hall and reviewed the site plan and made sure it met the guidelines required by all site plans. City staff had indicated that all the requirements had been met.

Mike McDaniel, SVP Development for Lightedge, did say there would be a Development Agreement with the city if this moves forward. It would not seek any incentives and would spell out a minimum assessment and other matters the city would like to include.

Commission members did inquire about the potential noise from generators, how they would operate and how they would be tested. Lightedge personnel said generators are tested at various times and are built to reduce operational noise.

Following the Plan and Zoning Commission recommendation to the City Council, it was announced that Boone County Economic Growth Corporation, Lightedge and Alliant would have representatives at an Open House on Thursday from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Community Building at the Boone County Fairgrounds. It will be a come and go event where residents can inquire about water usage, electric infrastructure, noise, and potential economic impact.
