Gaylord Paulson, 98, Boone, Iowa
BOONE, Iowa—Gaylord Paulson, 98, of Boone, Iowa, passed away at Westhaven Community in Boone, Iowa, on October 24, 2026. He had been a resident of Westhaven since 2024. He was born on December 3, 1927, in Hurley, South Dakota, the son of Carl and Emma (Nielsen) Paulson.
Gaylord married Mary Neilsen in June of 1955 the couple had many wonderful years together until Mary’s passing in 1999. He then married Audrey Powers Jensen in August of 2000, and they enjoyed their time together until her passing in 2023. Gaylord was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church in Boone.
He was preceded in death by his spouses, Mary Paulson and Audrey Paulson; parents, Carl and Emma Paulson, and niece, Carol Merrill.
Gaylord is survived by his step-daughters, Marcia (John) Bade, Laurie (Jerry) Wright, Annette (Jeff) Nading, and Kristin (Paul) Reimann; as well as many step-grandchildren.
A private family graveside service will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at a later date.
