Abnormally Dry Conditions Increase, Extreme Drought Areas Show Little Change

KWBG 08/26/21

DES MOINES, Iowa—Rain this week might improve drought conditions in the state, but the U.S. Drought Monitor from Tuesday only shows an increase in the area considered abnormally dry.  Extreme drought areas had little change.  Locally, severe drought to moderate conditions affected Boone County.  Remember, the U.S. Drought Monitor is based on broad-scale conditions.  Local conditions may vary.
