Absentee Voting in Boone County Continues to Climb

BOONE, Iowa—Boone County voters are continuing to make use of the absentee ballots and cast their votes early for the the November 3rd General Election. Statistics from the Boone County Auditor’s office show that the daily request for absentee ballots has gone over 7,500 and nearly 6,000 ballots have been returned. The numbers include requests for absentee ballots to be sent to voters through the mail and also requests to vote early at the Boone County Courthouse. Early voting at the courthouse is available in the main lobby during Courthouse hours 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday thru Friday. The Courthouse will also be open Saturdays October 24th and 31st from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. for those that are unable to stop during the week. The last day to request and absentee ballot by mail will be Saturday, October 24th at 5:00 p.m. Voters sending absentee ballots back to the Auditor’s office by mail must have a postmark no later than November 2nd. Ballots may be dropped off at the Auditor’s office on election day before 9:00 p.m., at your regular polling location or by voting a provisional ballot at your polling location. Voters must also sign the envelope in the designated yellow space. Attached is the break down of absentee ballot requests and votes cast through Wednesday, October 21st.
