BOONE, Iowa—A two vehicle collision south of Ogden Saturday has claimed the life of a Waukee man and required two people from his vehicle to be flown to Methodist Hospital in Des Moines by Life Flight. The Iowa State Patrol preliminary report shows that the accident was reported at 3:42 p.m. when a ’24 Chevrolet pickup, driven by 74 year old Wayne Reinhart of Alleman was traveling east on 280th Street and a ’25 Honda SXS UTV, operated by 55 year old Bobby John Rodriguez of Waukee, traveling north on I Avenue met in the uncontrolled intersection. The patrol report indicates the drivers were unable to see each other due to the height of the corn at the intersection. The impact caused the two vehicles to end up in the beanfield on the northwest corner of the intersection.
Rodriguez was pronounced deceased at the scene and his body was transported to the State Medical Examiner. Passengers in his vehicle, 40 year old Rebecca Susan Rodriguez and 9 year old Noah Rodriguez were both flown from the scene. The preliminary report shows that everyone in the Rodriguez vehicle were using seatbelts and were responsible for saving the lives of the passengers. Reinhart was evaluated at the scene and refused transport.
