America’s SBCD Appoints Khristan Kaufman to State Advisory Board

KWBG 07/09/21

AMES, Iowa—America’s Small Business Development Center Iowa (SBDC) is pleased to share that Khristan Kaufman is joining the SBDC State Advisory Board.

The purpose of the State Advisory Board is to provide advice, insight and perspective to the state director and staff of America’s SBDC Iowa on matters pertaining to the operation of its statewide SBDC network. Through this advice, the Board assists SBDC management in the development of short- and long-range plans for the SBDC and the means by which progress toward these goals can be measured.

Khristan was previously a Business Specialist for USDA Rural Development, assisting with programs providing financial assistance for business growth and development, technical assistance, and energy savings. In her current role, Khristan is a Branch Chief for Rural Development’s Single Family Housing Guaranteed Loan Program. This program assists in providing low- and moderate-income households the opportunity to own adequate, modest, decent, safe and sanitary dwellings.

“America’s SBDC Iowa is delighted to add Khristan to our Board,” says State Director Lisa Shimkat. “We are excited to continue to have a representative from the USDA serve on the State Advisory Board. Khristan has professional experience that will be an asset to the organization.”

America’s SBDC Iowa is an outreach program of Iowa State University’s Ivy College of Business and the Office of Economic Development and Industry Relations. Iowa State University does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, age, ethnicity, religion, national origin, pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity, genetic information, sex, marital status, disability, or status as a U.S. Veteran. Funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration, America’s SBDC Iowa has 15 regional assistance centers located strategically across the state. Since program inception in 1981, the SBDC has helped Iowa businesses and entrepreneurs through no fee, confidential, customized, professional business counseling and practical, affordable training workshops.
