Ames Regional Economic Alliance Welcomes Harrison Swift as Director of Economic Development

KWBG 10/08/25

AMES, Iowa—The Ames Regional Economic Alliance is excited to welcome Harrison Swift as a new Director of Economic Development. In this role, Harrison will also serve as the Executive Director of the Boone County Economic Growth Corporation (BCEGC), where he will focus on advancing business retention and expansion, workforce development, and community growth for Boone County and the City of Boone.

“We are thrilled to welcome Harrison to our team,” said Dan Culhane, President & CEO of the Ames Regional Economic Alliance. “His leadership experience and passion for community development make him an incredible asset to both Boone County and the Ames region. Harrison will help drive meaningful growth and strengthen our mission of making this region a premier place to live, work, and do business.”

A native Iowan who grew up on his family’s farm, Harrison brings a lifelong commitment to supporting rural communities and expanding opportunities for their residents. His career reflects a diverse background in service and leadership, including his time as a United States Marine Corps Infantryman (2010–2014), founder and director of the Northern Colorado Veterans Resource Center, Bipartisan Veterans Fellow for Senator Charles Grassley, and Program Manager for Home Base Iowa, where he led statewide veteran workforce initiatives and strengthened local partnerships.

Harrison holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Northern Colorado and an associate degree from Hawkeye Community College. In recognition of his impact, he was named 2020 Community Leader of the Year at the Northern Colorado State of the Region Conference. He is also active in civic and professional service, currently as a member of the Ankeny Rotary Club and previously as part of the Local Government Business Action Committee for the Greeley Area Chamber of Commerce.

Outside of work, Harrison enjoys spending time with his family, fishing, and attempting to rollerblade and skateboard with his young son.

Swift began his position on October 6th.
