BOONE, Iowa—The Boone County Sheriff’s Department has released preliminary information from Monday night’s single vehicle rollover accident that occurred east of Boone on US Highway 30.
Authorities report that the communication center was contacted shortly after 6:00 p.m. about a vehicle that had rolled several times in the median on US Highway 30 near R Avenue. The lone occupant of the vehicle was identified as 36-year old Sarah Cooke. Mercy One was called to the scene, however Cooke died as a result of the injuries sustained in the accident. The report indicates that Cooke was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident. The exact cause of the accident has not yet been determined.
The Boone County Sheriff’s Department is conducting the investigation. Multiple agencies assisted including the Boone Fire Department, Fire and Rescue, Boone County Ambulance, Boone County Emergency Management, Ogden First Responders and Mercy One.
