Another first-place finish for Ogden boys

Another Thursday, another first-place finish for the Ogden boys cross country team. The Class 1A, No. 3 Bulldogs won the Panorama Invitational on Thursday, Sept. 19.

Another Thursday, another first-place finish for the Ogden boys cross country team. 

The Class 1A, No. 3 Bulldogs won the Panorama Invitational on Thursday, Sept. 19. They also won the Greene County Invite on Thursday, Sept. 12, and won the Madrid meet on Thursday, Sept. 5. 

Ogden faced stiff competition at Panorama as it edged past Class 1A, No. 2 Earlham, Class 1A, No. 8 Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center and Class 2A, No. 18 Van Meter.  

Ogden was the top finisher among 16 schools with 66 points. 

Five Bulldogs were in the top 20, and those 5 were medalists. Senior Jude Benbow was runner-up in 17:42.  

Senior Brady Van Sickle finished in 12th place in 18:52, and senior Caden Lerdal was 15th in 19:09.  

Others scoring points for Ogden were freshman Myles Tromblay in 18th in 19:15 and sophomore Thomas Bergstrom in 19th in 19:16. 

The Ogden girls also competed at Panaroma and finished in 9th place with 218 points. 

Senior Addison Trusler finished in 27th place in 24:35, and senior Samantha Lass ended in 32nd place in 25:06. 

Junior McKenzie Spencer was 34th in 25:18, and freshman Elyse Fisher was 59th in 39:41. 

Rounding out the scoring were sophomore Brylie Hicks in 35:10 and freshman Ava Wohlwend in 35:33 . 

Can the Ogden boys win a meet on all four Thursdays in September? Find out next week, when both teams travel to Story City to compete in the Roland-Story meet on Thursday, Sept. 26.
