Arnold “Arnie” Egeland

BOONE, Iowa—Funeral arrangements have been set for 77 year old Arnold “Arnie” V. Egeland of Boone, Iowa. He passed away Saturday, September 4, 2021, at Bethany Life in Story City, IA.

A Memorial Service will be held 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Boone, with Pastor Michael Standfest officiating. Friends may call at the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets, Boone, on Monday, September 27, 2021, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Inurnment will be at Bass Point Cemetery.

Arnie was born April 16, 1944, at home near Randall, Iowa, the son of Ole Helmer and Violet (Tjelmeland) Egeland. He attended school in Randall and graduated from Randall High School in 1962, and then attended Ellsworth Community College.

Arnie met a young lady, Sharon Wirtz, on June 9, 1963, on the Boone Saddle Club Annual Trail Ride. Sharon and Arnie were united in marriage on April 16, 1966, at the First United Methodist Church in Boone. They made their home on a farm north of Boone, where Arnie remained involved in the farming operation until the end. For fifteen years, Arnie worked in the buildings and grounds division for DMACC on the Boone Campus.

He was a member and past president of the Boone Saddle Club, Iowa Draft Pony Hitch Association, West Central Region Cockshutt Club, American Shetland Pony Club and was an auctioneer. Arnie loved talking about farming, horses and ponies.

Arnie is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sharon Egeland of Boone; two sons, Dan (Patsy) Egeland of Clarks, NE and Dale (Kari) Egeland of Boone; two brothers, Orlene Egeland of Story City and Irving (Sarah) Egeland of Ankeny, IA; four grandchildren, Madelin (Cody) Scheidt, Jacob Egeland, Katie Egeland, and Zachary Egeland; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Marvin Egeland.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets in Boone. Online condolences may be left to Arnie’s family at www.schroedermemorialchapel.com.
