Betty Jo Swanson, 93, Boone, Iowa

BOONE, Iowa—Betty Jo (Kueck) Swanson, 93, of Boone, Iowa, passed away at her home in Boone on Sunday, August 2, 2026.

She was born on July 29, 1933, in Higginsville, Missouri, the daughter of Raymond Kueck and Margaret (O’Dell) Kueck. She graduated from William Chrisman High School in Independence, Missouri. On June 14, 1975, Betty Jo married Kenneth G. Swanson at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boone.

She worked as a secretary for many companies in Missouri, California, and Iowa, including for George A. Rolfes Company in Boone for 15 years, and the Iowa High School Athletic Association for 10 years. Betty Jo was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Boone. She loved sports and played competitive tennis for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Margaret (O’Dell) Kueck; infant daughter, Sherise Michele Foster; and brother, Wallace Kueck.

Betty Jo is survived by her husband, Kenneth G. Swanson of Boone, Iowa; son, Robert (Donnelle) Foster of Castle Rock, CO; son, Eric (Kristy) Foster of Ferndale, MI; grandchildren: Brandon Foster of Castle Rock, CO, Brooklyn Foster of Naples, FL, Bryson Foster of Denver, CO, Emily Foster of Ferndale, MI, and Jackson Foster of Ferndale, MI; step-grandchildren, Brittany Kling and Megan Kling both of Denver, CO; great-grandchildren, Carson Cramsey of Naples, FL, and Nova Foster of Denver, CO; Arya Daugherty of Littleton, CO, Harper Foster and Hayes Foster of Castle Rock, CO, and Rhett Hunt, Aurora, CO.

Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 7, 2026, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boone, with Pastor Jessten Heimer officiating. Visitation with the family present to greet friends will be before the service from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will be at Linwood Park Cemetery following the memorial service.

Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church in Boone.

The Schroeder-Stark-Welin Funeral Home, 609 7th Street, Boone, Iowa is assisting the family with these arrangements.
