The Boone softball team started Tuesday morning, July 1, strong with a 4-1 Raccoon River Conference win over Ballard.
The Toreadors struck early, scoring three runs in the second inning and adding another in the third.
Avery Howie led the way with two hits, including a double, and scored twice.
Hailee Bingham delivered a two-RBI triple, while Halle Bailey added a hit, a run, and an RBI.
Claire Hardinger chipped in with two hits and a run scored.
Carly Busch was sharp in the circle, striking out six in a complete game win, keeping Ballard’s offense in check throughout.
Game 2: Boone 11, Nevada 3
Boone capped off the day with an 11-3 non-conference win over Nevada Tuesday evening at Nevada, fueled by a six-run fifth inning and a monster game from Bingham.
Bingham went 3-for-4 with a triple, a home run, and five RBIs, powering the Toreadors’ offense.
Brooke Weisbrod scored three times, Hardinger added two RBIs, and Sydney Adams and Gracie Vodenik each contributed with hits and RBIs.
Kaylee Kuehl was in control on the mound, striking out seven in a complete game effort.
With the sweep, Boone improves to 18-10 overall and 7-6 in the Raccoon River Conference.
They’ll face a test tonight as they travel to take on No. 15 Bondurant-Farrar (19-7, 8-3 RRC) in a conference matchup.
