Boone 100s Club Night of Philanthropy

KWBG 04/25/24

BOONE, Iowa—The Boone 100s Club Third Night of Philanthropy was held Wednesday evening in the Boone High School Auditorium. Those in attendance heard brief presentations from three causes, the Friends of the Ledges, the Boone Baseball Club, and the Boone Soccer Club.

Wednesday, those in attendance selected the Friends of the Ledges. Andy Bartlett, Manager of the Ledges State Park spoke for the Friends. The group wants to secure a shuttle service for a planned Centennial Celebration on September 28th.

Scott Peasley presented for the Boone Baseball Club. Previously known as Babe Ruth, the Boone Baseball Club maintains the Memorial Park Baseball field. Most recently, the group has made improvements at the field and would like to complete the project buy purchasing a portable pitching mound and padding for batting cages..

Natasha Moyer made the presentation for the Boone Soccer Club. The Soccer Club participation has increased and the group is in need of additional field space and would like to purchase a couple of soccer goals.

The Boone 100s Club was started a year ago. Shellie Grabau and David Sherry had talked about developing a vehicle for “joyful giving”. The goal is to get one-hundred people to come to a Night of Philanthropy, each giving $100. In turn they get a poker chip, listen to three presentations, and then vote with their poker chip for their “cause” of choice. The “cause” with the most poker chips receives the cash.
