BOONE, Iowa—The Boone 100’s Club held it’s fourth Night of Philanthropy on Wednesday evening at the Boone High School Auditorium. The Night of Philanthropy is held to bring community members together to support a cause by donating $100 for an opportunity to vote for one of three causes. Dave Sherry and Shellie Grabau put the idea together a few years ago. Sherry said Wednesday night the most common question is what are the three causes. He says they aren’t announced because the idea is to give for the Joy of Giving and the cause shouldn’t matter. Shelly and Grabau have said before they would like to get 100 people to show up and each contribute $100 to vote on the cause they wish to support. $10,000 would certainly have a big impact on any of the causes selected from Boone County.
Wednesday night, presentations were given by Fred Greiner, Boone Area Veterans Center, Jennifer Clubine, The Free Clinic of Boone County and Dakota Sherry, Boone High School Athletic Training. On a close vote, the Free Clinic of Boone County was selected to receive the $3,100 raised for the fourth Night of Philanthropy.
