The Boone baseball team came up just short in a 6-5 non-conference loss to Webster City Friday, June 20, at Memorial Park.
Despite a strong offensive showing from Lucas Moore, Boone couldn’t close the gap, falling to 11-6 on the season.
Moore went 2-for-3 with a double, a triple, two RBIs, three runs scored and a stolen base.
Tate Carlson added an RBI single, while Tyler Lindahl, Ryan Bowers, and Reid Carr each chipped in with a hit.
Carr also scored once.
On the mound, Landon Youngblood started the game and recorded four strikeouts before handing the ball off to Walker Smith, who matched that total with four strikeouts of his own in relief.
Webster City, now 7-12, held off Boone to secure the win.
Boone, now 4-4 in Raccoon River Conference play, will look to bounce back quickly as they hit the road for a conference doubleheader this afternoon at Carroll.
Carroll enters the matchup at 6-10 overall and 0-7 in conference play.
First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m., weather permitting.
