The Boone baseball team closed out its regular season with a commanding 16-2 victory over Nevada in a non-conference matchup at Memorial Park Wednesday, July 9.

The win pushes Boone to an impressive 20-9 record heading into postseason play.

The Toreadors wasted no time setting the tone, exploding for nine runs in the bottom of the first inning.

They followed that up with another offensive surge in the fourth, scoring seven more runs to seal the mercy-rule win in just four innings.

Cole Bowers led the charge with 2 hits, 2 runs scored, and 2 RBIs.

Lucas Moore collected 2 hits, including a double, 3 RBIs, 1 run, and 2 stolen bases.

Dylan England scored three times, added 1 hit, and drove in 2 runs.

Noah Davies chipped in with 1 hit, 1 run, and 1 RBI.

Tate Carlson and Tyler Lindahl each scored 2 runs, with Lindahl also tallying 2 hits.

Ryan Bowers added 1 hit, 2 runs, and 1 RBI, while Conor Scoggins contributed 2 RBIs and a run scored.

Walker Smith earned the win with a solid outing, striking out four Nevada batters.

Nevada managed a run in the first and another in the fourth but couldn’t keep pace with Boone’s relentless offense.

The Cubs fall to 12-12 on the season.

Boone now turns its attention to the postseason, where it will face Hampton-Dumont-CAL in the first round of the Class 3A, Substate 3 tournament at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 11.

The Toreadors will look to replicate their dominant 10-0 win over Hampton-Dumont-CAL from just last week.
