The Boone baseball team bounced back from a quiet opener to earn a split with Gilbert in a Raccoon River Conference doubleheader at Memorial Park, falling 5–1 in Game 1 before rallying for an 8–6 victory in Game 2 Monday, June 15.

The Toreadors responded in the nightcap to earn the split.

Boone struck first with a run in the bottom of the first inning, then broke things open with three runs in the third and three more in the fourth.

The Toreadors added an insurance run in the sixth.

Gilbert countered with a run in the top of the third and briefly surged ahead with a five-run fourth inning, but Boone answered immediately to regain control and hold on late.

Davies totaled three hits, scored two runs, drove in two, and stole five bases.

RJ Lennon recorded 1 hit, 2 runs scored and 1 RBI, and Landon Youngblood had 2 hits and 1 run scored.
