The Boone baseball team scored early and often, powering the Toreadors to a 15-5 victory over Winterset in Raccoon River Conference action Wednesday, June 17, at Winterset High School.

Boone wasted no time jumping on the scoreboard, scoring three runs in the top of the first inning.

Winterset answered in the bottom half with three runs of its own, briefly tying the game.

But from that point on, it was all Boone.

In the fourth inning, Boone exploded for six runs to break the game open.

The Toreadors added three more in the fifth and capped their scoring with another three-run burst in the seventh, finishing with 15 runs the night.

Winterset added two runs in the bottom of the sixth but was unable to keep pace with Boone.

Tyce Carlson led the way with two hits, two runs scored, and a team-high four RBIs.

Levi Behn added two hits, two runs, and two RBIs.

Noah Davies contributed two hits, including a double, two runs scored, one RBI, and a stolen base.

Ryan Bowers chipped in two hits, one run, and one RBI.

Braxton Gifford had 2 hits and 1 run scored.

Landon Youngblood and Noah Gorman each drove in two runs, while Gorman also added a hit.

Hendrix Moorman recorded a hit, scored once, and drove in a run.

RJ Lennon scored three times and added a hit.

Starting pitcher Gorman secured the victory for Boone, striking out three batters.

With the win, Boone improves to 7-6 overall and 3-4 in Raccoon River Conference play.

Winterset falls to 10-8 overall and 4-5 in the conference.

The Toreadors return to action tonight with a road doubleheader against Adel-DeSoto-Minburn.

First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m.
