In a game filled with momentum swings and big plays, the Boone football team fell short, losing a district game at Denison-Schleswig, 35-21, Friday, October 17.

Denison-Schleswig struck first, capitalizing on a Boone interception with a 5-yard touchdown pass, then followed up with another 8-yard scoring pass to take a 14-0 lead in the first quarter.

Boone responded in the second quarter with a touchdown run by quarterback Jude Baumgardner, cutting the deficit to 14-7.

Just before halftime, Boone was driving and benefited from a pass interference call in the end zone, placing the ball at the 10-yard line.

But a costly fumble was returned 93 yards by Denison-Schleswig, giving the Monarchs a 21-7 lead at the half.

In the third quarter, Baumgardner again found the end zone on a rushing play, narrowing the gap to 21-14.

However, Denison-Schleswig answered immediately with a 72-yard touchdown pass.

Boone kept fighting, and on the final play of the third quarter, Baumgardner connected with Tate Hollenkamp for a touchdown pass, making it 27-21.

Denison-Schleswig sealed the game in the fourth quarter with a 6-yard touchdown run, pushing the final score to 35-21.

Jude Baumgardner went 9-for-22 passing for 137 yards and 1 touchdown, plus 45 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns.

Maddox McIntyre had 15 carries for 51 yards.

Bodie Brogden ended with 3 carries for 37 yards, 2 receptions for 27 yards, and defensively had 9 tackles, 1 tackle for loss, and 1 sack.

Noah Davies had 4 receptions for 57 yards while Tate Hollenkamp added 2 receptions for 46 yards and a touchdown.
