The Boone boys’ cross country team gained valuable experience this season while competing against some of the top competition in central Iowa.
Over the course of seven meets, the Toreadors improved and turned in their best team performance of the season in October.
Boone’s top finish came at the Dick Bell Invitational at Eagle Grove Golf Course on October 6, where the Toreadors placed fifth in the team standings.
Earlier in the year, Boone also recorded a ninth-place finish at the Clear Lake Invitational on September 17 at Veterans Memorial Golf Club.
The team was built on a balanced lineup that featured a mix of veteran leadership and young talent.
Freshman Jonathan Myers posted the team’s fastest 5-kilometer time of 19:08.
Sophomore Austin Felder was close behind with a season-best 19:22, while senior Kamden Lehman turned in a top time of 19:31.
Senior Pearson Lampe added a 19:38.7 effort, giving Boone four runners under the 20-minute mark.
Eighth-grader Ace Wolfgram provided a season-best time of 20:05.
The senior class also included Samuel Chesnut, who ran a best of 20:20.5, and Calvin Cook, who recorded a season-best 20:36.
With Myers, Felder and Wolfgram returning, Boone will bring valuable experience and promising young talent into the 2027 season.
