Boone boys open season with two wins

The Boone Toreadors kicked off their boys’ wrestling season Thursday, December 4, at home, beating Carroll and Webster City but losing to Pleasant Valley.

The Boone Toreadors kicked off their boys’ wrestling season Thursday, December 4, at home, beating Carroll and Webster City but losing to Pleasant Valley.  

Boone 54, Carroll 30 
Boone started the evening against Carroll, earning a 54-30 team victory.  

The Toreadors racked up pins in nine matches, highlighted by falls from Easton Landas at 106 pounds (0:38), Ajay Braddock at 138 (0:40) and Owen Thomas at 150 (0:44).  

Brody Warrick added a technical fall at 165, while Trent Eckard secured a pin at 175.

Pleasant Valley 58, Boone 14 
The second dual of the night saw Boone face a strong Pleasant Valley squad where Boone fell, 58-14.  

Landas earned a hard-fought 4-2 decision, and Braddock picked up a forfeit.  

Warrick had an 18-2 technical fall.

Boone 54, Webster City 26 
Boone bounced back in the final dual, defeating Webster City, 54-26.  

The Toreadors won eight matches by fall.  

Landas, Aiden Harris at 113, Mason Oostenink at 120, Isaac McCloud at 126, Braddock, Thomas, Warrick and Eckard all recorded pins.  

Landas finished 3-0 on the night, including two pins and a decision. 

Braddock had a perfect evening with two pins and a forfeit. 

Warrick recorded a tech fall and two pins. 

Thomas and Eckard both went 2-1 with big wins by fall.

Next, Boone hosts Raccoon River conference opponents Bondurant-Farrar and Ballard in a triangular Thursday, Dec 11, at 5 p.m.
