The Class 2A, No. 5, Boone boys’ tennis team opened its season with a 7-4 victory at Norwalk Thursday, April 3.
Four Toreadors won their singles matches in tiebreaker.
No. 1 Owen Schneider won, 2-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-8), and No. 2 Devin Silbaugh won, 6-2, 5-7, 1-0 (10-2).
In addition, No. 3 Tyler Lindahl won, 3-6, 6-3, 1-0 (11-9) and No. 6 Calvin Jordan won, 6-2, 2-6, 1-0 (10-6)
No. 5 Braxtan Sproule won in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2.
Boone won 1 doubles match in tiebreaker and 1 match in straight sets.
No. 1 Silbaugh and Lindahl won 3-6, 6-1, 1-0 (11-9), and No. 3 Wesley Van Pelt and Jordan won, 6-1, 6-3.

The Toreadors will host the Boone Invite at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 5, with Council Bluffs St. Albert, Denison-Schleswig, North Polk, Boone and Dallas Center-Grimes all attending.
In addition, Boone will travel to Newton for a meet Monday, April 7, followed by a trip to Waterloo to face Columbus Catholic Tuesday, April 8.
