Boone boys’ tennis sweeps opponents

The Boone boys’ tennis team earned convincing wins over Independence and South Tama put together Thursday, April 16 at Tama.

The Boone boys’ tennis team earned convincing wins over Independence and South Tama put together Thursday, April 16 at Tama. 

Boone 8, Independence 1 

Boone opened the day with an 8–1 victory over Independence, winning five of six singles matches before sweeping doubles play. 

At No. 1 singles, Braxtan Sproule set the tone with a 10–2 win. 

Boone also got singles victories from Calvin Jordan (10–3), Patrick Houser (10–1), Logan Wickman (10–8) and Sam Chesnut (10–2).  

Boone’s lone setback came at No. 4 singles, where Brandon Holm dropped a close 11–9 decision. 

In doubles, Boone swept all three matches.  

Sproule and Houser won 10–3, Jordan and Wickman earned a 10–3 victory, and Kam Lehman and Chesnut closed out the sweep with a 10–4 win. 

Boone 9, South Tama 0 

Later in the day, the Toreadors followed up with a 9–0 sweep of South Tama. 

Sproule delivered another strong showing at No. 1 singles with a 10–5 win, while Boone cruised through the rest of the singles lineup.  

Jordan, Holm, Wickman, and Chesnut all earned victories, and Lehman picked up a win by forfeit at No. 6 singles. 

Boone again swept doubles play, led by Jordan and Houser at No. 1 doubles with a 10–2 win.  

Chesnut and Holm followed with a 10–1 victory, while Wickman and Lehman secured the final point by forfeit.

The boys travel to Caldwell Park in Pella Saturday, April 18, for the Pella Dutch Invite.
