
The Boone Toreadors boys’ basketball team opened its season in dramatic fashion Tuesday, December 2, pulling out a 50-47 overtime victory over Fort Dodge in a non-conference matchup at Boone High School.
Boone led early, taking an 11-7 advantage after the first quarter and holding a slim 21-18 lead at halftime.
The game stayed tight throughout, with Boone ahead 32-30 after three quarters, but Fort Dodge forced overtime by tying the score at 44-44 at the end of regulation.
In the extra period, Boone outscored the Dodgers, 6-3, to secure the win.
Hendrix Moorman paced the Toreadors with 17 points, including three 3-pointers, while Brandon Holm added 14 points, knocking down two triples and hitting two free throws.
Landon Myers contributed 11 points, including three free throws, and Dayne Brekke chipped in 6 points.
Cole Christensen rounded out the scoring with 2 points.
The victory gives Boone a 1-0 record, while Fort Dodge falls to 0-2.
Boone will host Woodward Academy (1-0) on Friday, December 5, with tip-off set for 7:30 p.m. at Boone High School.
