BOONE, Iowa—Boone Community Theatre will present The Pirates of Penzance by Gilbert and Sullivan on Sept. 19 – 28, 2019 at the First Presbyterian Church in Boone.
The Pirates of Penzance tells the story of a young pirate apprentice named Frederic who has come to the end of his indentured period. Frederic has decided to leave the pirate life forever and, though he loves his comrades dearly, devote his life to the extermination of their kind. Once upon the shore, Frederic stumbles upon a bevy of beautiful maidens. He immediately falls in love with the most beautiful of the bunch, Mabel, who graciously offers to reclaim the “Poor Wandering One.”
This musical will open on September 19th at 7:00 p.m. (National Talk Like A Pirate Day). The theatre is giving $5 off to any audience member who comes dressed in a pirate costume.
Remaining performances are at 7:00 p.m. on September 20th, 21st, and 27th. A matinee is offered at 2:00 p.m. on September 28th.
This production will be performed “in the round” at First Presbyterian Church, 703 Greene Street in Boone.
