Boone County Housing Projects Secure Nearly $2.6 Million in Housing Tax Credits from the Iowa Economic Development Authority

BOONE, Iowa—Proposed housing projects in Boone and Ogden have secured nearly $2.6 million in tax credits from the State of Iowa. Governor Kim Reynolds and the Iowa Economic Development Authority announced more than $37 million in workforce housing tax credits to devleop housing across the state.

IEDA received 124 applications requesting $74 million in tax credits. IEDA had $35 million available for fiscal 2025 and $2 million reallocation from fiscal 24. Project applications were scored competitively based on readiness, documented financing, community impact and developer experience.

Of the $37 million total, $20 million was awarded for project in small communities which included Boone and Ogden. The awards are a combination of Workforce Housing Tax Credit and Sales Tax Refunds.

Boone projects that were approved were Page Flats (the Page Elementary School), 28 housing units with a total tax credit of $927,565. Also approved, Prairie Place Housing Development (Hunziker Development Group), 23 residential units, with a total tax credit of $775,643. The third Boone Project approved was Kate’s Landing (Kading Properties), 128 housing units, a total tax credit of $655,673.

The Ogden award went to Schlenker Construction for six residential units with a total tax credit of $223,200.
