SHERIFF’S REPORT — February 16–22

BOONE, Iowa—The Boone County Sheriff’s Department has updated it’s call information for February 16th to February 22nd. The report includes quite a few calls for vehicles in the ditch as a result of snowfall and slippery conditions.

Burglary & Theft

  • Feb. 17, 9:04 AM — 5900 block W. Lincoln Way: Report taken of theft. No suspect information listed.

Drug & Substance Offenses

  • Feb. 21, 1:54 AM — 222nd Dr. & 220th St.: Gregory Oziemkowski, 39, Boone, was arrested for operating while intoxicated, first offense. He was booked into the Boone County Jail.

Public Safety Threats

  • Feb. 16, 6:47 PM — 1000 block X Ave.: Report of a scam.
  • Feb. 18, 10:31 AM — 2200 block 229th Pl.: Report of fraud.
  • Feb. 20, 10:22 PM — 600 block X Ave.: Report of abuse.
  • Feb. 22, 7:06 PM — 1900 block 180th St.: Deputies responded to a domestic disturbance.

Other Criminal Offenses

  • Feb. 16, 1:53 PM — 1900 block B Ave.: Report of harassment.
  • Feb. 17, 6:45 PM — 1200 block Westview Pl.: Report of harassment.
  • Feb. 19, 7:20 PM — 500 block Juniper Rd.: Report of harassment.

Public Safety & Hazard Responses

  • Feb. 16–22: Multiple reports of traffic hazards, disabled vehicles, and vehicles in ditches, especially during winter weather. Feb. 20 included 24 weather‑related vehicle calls; Feb. 22 included 18 similar calls.
  • Feb. 16–22: Deputies responded to several motor vehicle accidents across the county. No injuries or charges were noted in the logs.
  • Feb. 16–22: Several welfare checks, suspicious activity calls, and medical assists were handled throughout the week.

Nature of Incidents Reported

Deputies handled a high volume of weather‑related vehicle calls, along with several harassment complaints and public safety concerns involving scams, fraud, and abuse. One arrest was made for operating while intoxicated. Routine welfare checks, medical assists, and accident responses made up much of the remaining activity.
