Boone cross country continues to improve

Several personal records were recorded for the Boone girls’ and boys’ cross country teams at the North Polk Invite on Monday, Oct. 7, in Polk City.

Several personal records were recorded for the Boone girls’ and boys’ cross country teams at the North Polk Invite on Monday, Oct. 7, in Polk City. 

Emma Thomas again led the way for the Toreador girls and placed 8th with a personal record of 21:17.16 

Morgan Chesnut and Lynneah Pickering placed 18th and 25th in personal record times of 22:07.28 and 23:00.00. 

Bry Morgan ran a season best time of 23:40.96, which was good for 31st place, and Poppy Malone placed 51st in 25:25.45. 

Boone placed 5th as a team among 9 schools with 119 points. North Polk won the meet with 40 points. 

Dorian Myers again led the way for the Toreador boys and placed 13th with a personal record of 17:47.40. 

Blake Gradoville placed 38th and ran a season best of 18:59.39. 

Calvin Cook and Sam Chesnut ran personal record times of 19:09.90 and 20:14.31, which were good for 41st and 71st place. 

Rounding out the scoring for the Toreadors was Kyan Lehman placing 73rd in 20:21.67. 

Boone placed 7th as a team among 11 schools with 207 points. Bondurant-Farrar won the meet with 41 points. 

Teams competing at the meet were North Polk, Lynnville-Sully, Nevada, Grand View Christian, Boone, Bondurant-Farrar, Collins-Maxwell, Des Moines Christian, Colfax-Mingo (boys) and Saydel (boys). 

The Toreadors will run at home at Cedar Pointe Golf Course on Thursday, Oct. 10, as they host the meet. Ogden, Gilbert, Humboldt and Boone will be in attendance.
