Boone’s football team faced a tough challenge Friday, September 26, in its district opener at Tiger Stadium in Adel, falling to Adel-DeSoto-Minburn, 42-7.
ADM came out firing, scoring 21 points in the first quarter and another 21 in the second, building a commanding halftime lead.
Boone responded in the third quarter with a touchdown.
Quarterback Jude Baumgardner led Boone’s offense, completing 15 of 23 passes for 132 yards and a touchdown.
He also added 21 rushing yards on 6 carries.
Running back Maddox McIntyre carried the ball 21 times for 76 yards.
In the air, Noah Davies was Baumgardner’s top target, hauling in 6 receptions for 75 yards, while Tate Hollenkamp added 6 catches for 36 yards.
Bodie Brogden caught 2 passes for 21 yards, including Boone’s lone touchdown.
On defense, Brogden also made his presence felt with 6.5 tackles, including 5 solo stops.
Jonathan Van Roekel recorded 5 solo tackles and a tackle for loss, while Beau Bass contributed 3 tackles, 2 of them solo.
With the loss, Boone drops to 1-4 overall and 0-1 in district play, while ADM improves to 4-1 overall and 1-0 in the district.
Boone will look to bounce back on Friday, October 3, when they host Council Bluffs Lewis Central (2-3 overall, 0-1 district) at Goeppinger Field.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m., with pregame coverage beginning at 6:15 on KWBG FM 101.5, AM 1590, and streaming live at kwbglive.com, with sports director Ryan Wendt on the call.
The game will also feature middle school and youth football night, along with a cheer clinic performance.
