BOONE, Iowa—The Boone Fire Department has been making appointments for the annual battery replacement program. For the next two weeks, Boone Fire Fighters will be following up on those appointments, checking smoke, fire and carbon monoxide detectors and replacing batteries in those detectors. Here are some of the guidelines that are followed:
· Appointments will be scheduled November 5th-16th between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
· Owner occupied residences only, no businesses or rental properties
· We aim toward our older citizens or those who are unable to safely replace batteries themselves
· We have a limited supply of new detectors to replace old/expired ones
· Appointments can be scheduled by calling our on-duty crew at 515-432-3446
· These are done by our on-duty crew so appointment times are dependent on call volume, we will contact folks as soon as we’re able to reschedule if needed.
