In a hard-fought non-district matchup under the lights at Goeppinger Field, the Boone Toreadors came up just short against Iowa Falls-Alden, falling 14-7 in a game that saw limited possessions.

Boone struck first in the opening quarter, as quarterback Jude Baumgardner connected with Noah Davies on a 7-yard touchdown pass, giving the Toreadors a 7-0 lead.

The momentum was short-lived, however, as Iowa Falls-Alden answered with a 34-yard touchdown pass, narrowing the gap to 7-6.

Boone held the lead into halftime with both teams managing just three possessions each in the first half.

The second half saw Iowa Falls-Alden take control, scoring on a 2-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter to go up 14-7 — a score that held through the final whistle.

Boone had only two possessions in the second half and couldn’t find the end zone again.

Maddox McIntyre powered the ground game with 115 rushing yards on 23 carries.

Baumgardner added 36 rushing yards on 6 carries and went 5-for-13 passing for 33 yards and 1 touchdown.

Tate Hollenkamp led receivers with 13 yards while Davies and Bodie Brogden combined for 20 yards on four catches.

On defense, Noel Malin led the way with 7.5 tackles, including 5 solo stops.

Noah Davies added 7 tackles, 5 solo, and an interception.

Romero Young and Javier Casiano contributed 5.5 and 5 tackles, respectively.

Boone (1-3) opens district play Friday, September 26, traveling to face Adel-DeSoto-Minburn who sits at 3-1, at Tiger Stadium with kickoff set for 7 p.m.
