A big first half led the Boone football team to a 48-6 victory over Storm Lake Friday, Sept. 6. The Toreadors scored 41 points in the first half of its home opener and improved to 2-0.
Junior quarterback Jude Baumgardner had 138 passing yards, completed 6 of 9 passes and rushed for 16 yards.
Senior Lucas Boucher rushed for 176 yards over 14 carries which led to 2 touchdowns.
Senior Tyson Shivers chalked up 2 receptions for 50 yards while junior Bodie Brogden also had 2 receptions for 26 yards.
Senior Dylan Bolton had 2 receptions for 62 yards. He also served as the placekicker and went 6 for 7 on PAT attempts.
Defensively, senior Josh Ingrahm led the team with 8 tackles, including 1 tackle for loss, and 1 interception.
Shivers also contributed to the Toreador defense with 7.5 tackles as junior Ajay Braddock had 6 tackles.
The Toreadors were ahead, 14-0, at the end of the first quarter and added another 27 points in the second quarter. Storm Lake scored its only touchdown in the third quarter, and Boone responded with a touchdown in the fourth.
Next Boone takes on Des Moines Hoover for a homecoming match-up at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 13.
