The Boone girls’ wrestling team competed at the Waukee Northwest Invite on Saturday, January 17.

At 105 pounds, Poppy Malone (20–5) finished 3rd.

Malone opened her day with back‑to‑back falls—first pinning Teagan Babcock of Missouri Valley in 3:41, then following it up with another fall against Carroll’s Destiny Riesselman in 3:47.

Those two wins sent her into a semifinal against Waverly-Shell Rock’s Kambree Westendorf where she came up short, falling in 2:56.

In the 3rd‑place match, Malone stormed back, earning her third fall of the day, pinning Saydel’s Sophia Carnes in 3:38 to secure the bronze medal.

Wrestling at 235 pounds, Brooklynn Elliott (17–11) finished 7th.

Elliott opened her day with a win, pinning Alani Pierce of Raccoon River–Northwest in 2:23.

After a setback in the quarterfinals against Carroll’s Emma Daniels, she regrouped quickly in consolations.

Elliott earned another fall—this time over West Marshall’s Reagan Buschbom in 1:34—before meeting Red Oak’s Janae Schwery in the consolation semifinal, where she was stopped by fall at 55 seconds.

In the 7th‑place match, she pinned Madilyn Metz of Cedar Falls in just 45 seconds—capping her tournament with three wins by fall.

At 140 pounds, Abigail Molitor (21–11) began the day with a bye, and then beat Missouri Valley’s Ellie Arrick with a pin in just 1:22.

In the quarterfinals, she lost to Waverly-Shell Rock’s Makana Miller, falling in 1:03.

Molitor dropped to the consolation side and was defeated by Izzy Heisdorffer of Sigourney (1:09).
