Boone girls celebrate senior night with win

The Boone Toreadors girls’ basketball team defeated Winterset, 51-40, in Raccoon River Conference play on senior night Tuesday, Feburary 3, at Boone High School.

The Boone Toreadors girls’ basketball team defeated Winterset, 51-40, in Raccoon River Conference play on senior night Tuesday, Feburary 3, at Boone High School. 

Macy Chesnut powered the Toreadors with 20 points. 

She finished 6‑for‑20 from the field and 8‑for‑15 at the stripe, while adding six rebounds (two offensive), six steals, and four assists with only two turnovers. 

Whitney Chesnut added six points, knocking down two three‑pointers. 

She also contributed four assists, four steals, and eight rebounds—three of them on the offensive end. 

Bryana Morgan finished with 12 points on 4‑of‑9 shooting, all four makes coming from beyond the arc.  

Kyra Darby added six points. 

Brooke Weisbrod grabbed 9 rebounds (4 offensive) and 2 steals. 

Avah Hayes, the team’s one senior, had 5 rebounds (4 offensive) and 4 steals. 

The Toreadors collected 15 offensive rebounds. 

Abigail Leu also contributed one assist and no turnovers. 

The victory improves Boone to 5–13 overall and 2–11 in conference play, while Winterset falls to 6–13 overall and 4–10 in the league. 

Boone returns home Friday, February 6, for another major test as the Toreadors host No. 5 Carlisle (17–0, 12–0) at 6:00 p.m.  

It will be senior night for the dance team and pep band, and the dance team will perform a routine at halftime of the boys’ game. 

The game will be broadcast on KWBG FM 101.5, AM 1590, and stream live at kwbglive.com with sports director Ryan Wendt on the call.
