The Boone girls’ wrestling team had a challenging night on the road Thursday, January 15, competing in duals against Ames and Fort Dodge, ultimately falling in both.
Dual 1: Ames 59, Boone 21
Boone opened the night against Ames but lost, 59-21.
Poppy Malone delivered a victory with a pin in 2:54 at 105.
Reese Majors followed with a 13–7 decision at 115.
In the upper weights, Cadence Heggen picked up a fall in 1:28 at 190, and Brooklynn Elliott closed the dual with a 1:52 pin at 235.
Dual 2: Fort Dodge 51, Boone 28
Boone wrestled Fort Dodge in the second dual but fell short, 51-28.
Malone recorded a 19‑second pin at 105.
Johanna Meeks followed with a 15–0 tech fall in 3:49 at 120.
Abigail Molitor secured a 1:32 pin at 140.
Heggen added a 17–2 tech fall victory at 190.
