
The Boone girls’ basketball team opened Raccoon River Conference play at home on Tuesday, December 9, and dropped the contest, 42-28.
Ballard jumped out to an early 13-8 lead after the first quarter, but Boone opened the second quarter with a 5-0 run, tying the game.
Ballard answered with a run of their own, and Boone trailed 19-15 at halftime.
Ballard outscored Boone 14-2 in the third quarter, stretching the lead to 16 points heading into the final period.
Boone couldn’t overcome the deficit, as Ballard secured the win and improved to 1-1 in conference play, while Boone moved to 0-1.
Whitney Chesnut led Boone with 10 points.
Macy Chesnut added 7 points, while Harper Houston chipped in 5.
Bry Morgan and Kyra Darby contributed 2 points each, and Brooke Weisbrod and Abigail Leu rounded out the scoring with 1 point apiece.
Boone (1-3 overall) will look to bounce back on Friday, December 12, when they travel to face Gilbert (3-2) in another Raccoon River Conference matchup.
Tip-off is set for 6:00 PM at the Gilbert High School Gym.
The game will be broadcast on KWBG FM 101.5, AM 1590 and will stream at kwbglive.com with sports director Ryan Wendt on the call.
