
The Boone Toreadors girls’ basketball team picked up its first victory of the season Tuesday, December 2, defeating Fort Dodge, 51-46, in a non-conference matchup at Boone High School.
Boone came out strong, jumping to an 18-10 lead after the first quarter, but Fort Dodge rallied to take a 22-19 halftime advantage.
The Toreadors responded in the second half, outscoring the Dodgers 19-11 in the third quarter to regain control and held on down the stretch for the win.
Macy Chesnut led Boone with 14 points, including a three-pointer and a near-perfect 7-for-8 from the free-throw line.
Brooke Weisbrod added 13 points, hitting a three-pointer and going 6-for-6 at the stripe, while Whitney Chesnut contributed 11 points, including five free throws.
Kyra Darby provided a spark early with 8 first-half points, knocking down two three-pointers.
Bry Morgan chipped in with a free throw.
The victory improves Boone to 1-2, while Fort Dodge falls to 1-2.
Boone opens Raccoon River Conference play on Tuesday, December 9, hosting Ballard (0-3) at 6 p.m.
