A big fourth quarter led Webster City to a 42-29 non-conference win over the Boone girls’ basketball team Friday, November 21, in Webster City.
Boone jumped out early, leading 14-11 after the first quarter and holding a slim 20-19 advantage at halftime.
The Toreadors continued to battle in the third, taking a 25-24 lead into the final quarter.
But Boone’s shots stopped falling in the second half, and Webster City outscored Boone, 19-4, in the fourth quarter to seal the victory.
Whitney Chesnut led Boone with 11 points, including three three-pointers.
Macy Chesnut added eight points and knocked down one three-pointer.
Brooke Weisbrod and Avery Howie chipped in four points apiece, while Ava Johnson scored two.
Both teams were playing their season opener.
Boone starts 0-1 and will look to bounce back Tuesday, November 25, when the Toreadors travel to Nevada to face the Cubs at the Nevada High School Fieldhouse.
Nevada enters the matchup 0-0.
