The Boone girls’ cross country team was runner-up Monday, September 15, at the Mike Carr Invitational, held at the Ballard Golf & Country Club north of Huxley and hosted by Ballard High School.
The Boone boys’ cross country team also competed at Ballard and finished seventh.
The Boone girls scored 51 points, just behind host Ballard (35).
Boone had four runners in the top 10.
Briella Johnson led the way with a 4th-place finish in 21:09.3.
Emma Thomas followed closely in 7th at 21:11.9, and Reagan Morgan placed 8th with a time of 21:18.4.
Whitney Chesnut rounded out the top 10 in 10th place at 21:23.9.
Morgan Chesnut (22nd), Elin Selby (27th), and Bry Morgan (30th) added to the team’s scoring effort.
Boone finished ahead of Adel-DeSoto-Minburn, Atlantic, Nevada and Webster City.
The Boone boys placed 7th, scoring 178 points.
Dorian Myers led the Toreadors with a 20th-place finish in 18:56.6.
Kam Lehman (36th, 21:09.2), Calvin Cook (39th, 21:19.7), Simon Enabnit (40th, 21.23.9), and Owen Hill (43rd, 21:47.7) rounded out Boone’s top five.
Sam Chesnut and Pearson Lampe also competed, finishing 45th and 46th respectively.
Adel-DeSoto-Minburn took the boys team title with 35 points, followed by Bondurant-Farrar and Ballard.

Boone’s cross country teams returns to action on Monday, September 22 at Joe Sheldon County Park near Humboldt, with Humboldt High School serving as the host.
