
The Boone girls’ wrestling team competed Tuesday, January 20, at the Toreador Duals, going 2–1 and placing third.
Boone opened with a win over Ballard, lost to Carlisle in the semifinals, and finished the night with a tiebreaker victory over Carroll.
Quarterfinal — Boone 39, Ballard 34
Boone opened the night with a win over Ballard.
The Toreadors earned their first victory from Reese Majors (115), who delivered a first‑period fall in 1:38.
Ballard responded with wins at 120, 125, and 130.
At 135, Emersyn Zehner edged out a 1–0 decision to swing momentum back toward Boone.
At 140, Abigail Molitor had a pin in 1:33, giving the Toreadors the lead again.
Ballard countered with falls at 145 and 155, tightening the score, but Boone’s upper weights sealed the dual.
Cadence Heggen (190) pinned her opponent in 1:31.
Boone’s balance across the lineup lifted it to a 39–34 opening‑round victory.
Semifinal — Carlisle 69, Boone 9
Boone next faced Carlisle, who controlled the dual from the start.
Boone’s wins came from Poppy Malone (105), who delivered a 17–0 technical fall victory, and Zehner, who earned an 11–2 major decision win.
3rd‑Place Dual — Boone 42, Carroll 42 (Boone wins on forfeits, 4–2)
In the final dual of the night, Boone and Carroll finished tied at 42–42, and the match was decided by the tiebreaker criteria.
Boone earned four forfeit wins to Carroll’s two, giving the Toreadors the victory.
Zehner had a fall in 1:59, Molitor had a pin in 29 seconds and Heggen had a fall in 45 seconds.
