
The Boone Toreadors girls’ basketball team traveled to Gilbert on Friday, December 12, for a Raccoon River Conference game, but the Tigers handed Boone a 79-37 loss at Gilbert High School Gym.
Gilbert jumped out to an early lead, finishing the first quarter ahead 19-7.
Boone fought to keep pace in the second quarter, scoring 15 points, but Gilbert’s 8-0 run helped the Tigers maintain control and take a 36-22 advantage into halftime.
The third quarter was decisive, as Gilbert outscored Boone 25-10, stretching the lead to 61-32 before closing out the game.
For Boone, Macy Chesnut led the scoring with 10 points, including two three-pointers and a pair of free throws.
Bry Morgan and Brooke Weisbrod each added 6 points, both contributing in the first half.
Whitney Chesnut chipped in 5 points, while Kyra Darby scored 4, and Morgan Chesnut and Ava Johnson each had 3 points.
With the loss, Boone falls to 0-2 in conference play and 1-4 overall, while Gilbert improves to 1-1 in the Raccoon River Conference and 4-2 overall.
The Toreadors will look to bounce back on Tuesday, December 16, when they travel to Carroll for another conference matchup.
Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 PM at Carroll High School Gym.
