
The Boone Toreadors girls’ basketball team powered past Denison‑Schleswig, 68–45, in a non‑conference road matchup Friday, January 16, in Denison.
Boone set the tone early, jumping ahead, 17–12, after the first quarter and extending the lead to 35–23 at halftime.
By the end of the third quarter, Boone had stretched the margin to 53–39 and closed the night with a convincing double‑digit win.
Macy Chesnut had a strong scoring performance, finishing with 26 points on 7-of-19 shooting, including five three‑pointers (5/14), and going 7-of-10 at the free‑throw line.
She added 5 rebounds, 3 offensive boards, 2 steals, and a block.
Whitney Chesnut added 17 points on 5-of-11 shooting, including 2-of-4 from deep and 5-of-6 at the line.
She had 9 rebounds (5 offensive), 9 steals and 7 assists.
Kyra Darby chipped in 8 points, hitting a three and going 3-of-4 at the line, while adding 4 rebounds and a block.
Brooke Weisbrod added 7 points, 7 rebounds and 3 steals.
Whitney Chesnut had seven assists, and Bryana Morgan had 2 assists with just 1 turnover.
Macy Chesnut added 2 assists of her own.
North Polk 51, Boone 34
North Polk pushed past Boone, 51–34, for a Raccoon River Conference win Tuesday, January 13, at Boone High School.
Macy Chesnut led Boone with 13 points, knocking down two threes and going 3‑for‑6 at the line.
She added 7 rebounds, 2 steals, 3 offensive boards and a block.
Weisbrod scored 5 points, including a three‑pointer, while Darby added another 5 points, hitting two shots from the field and a three.
Darby also pulled down 6 rebounds and blocked a shot.
Whitney Chesnut contributed 6 rebounds, 3 steals, and 3 assists.
Abigail Leu added an assist with zero turnovers.
The loss dropped Boone to 2–11 overall and 0–9 in the Raccoon River Conference.
Pack the Gym Night is Friday
Boone hosts Gilbert (7–7, 5–5) in conference matchup on Friday, Jan. 23 at 6 p.m.
The game will air on KWBG FM 101.5 / AM 1590, with sports director Ryan Wendt on the call.
This game is Pack the Gym Night, featuring a full slate of community events.
There will be free cookies for the first 200 Boone students (sponsored by Boone Fareway).
The is a cheer clinic (K–8) from 4:30–6 p.m. with a performance at halftime of the girls’ varsity game.
There will be a chili feed from 5–6:30 p.m. in the commons, $8+ suggested (sponsored by Boone Hy‑Vee).
There are activities outside the gym from 5:30–7 p.m. such as free games, a photo booth, tattoos, face painting and $5 spirit bracelets (sponsored by Just So Magical Vacations).
There will be a dance team performance during halftime of the boys’ varsity game.
There is a dessert auction during halftime of the boys’ game (7:30 p.m.).
There will be a varsity boys and girls poster signing after the 1st quarter of the opposite game.
There is 5th Quarter Dodgeball after the boys’ game for grades 5–12, $5 per player, 6 players per team, sponsored by Boone Basketball Club.
