
The Boone girls’ basketball team rolled past Des Moines Hoover for a 54-25 non-conference win Monday, January 26, at Boone High School before beating Carroll, 43-33 in a Raccoon River Conference win Tuesday, January 27, at home.
Against Hoover, Macy Chesnut led Boone with 12 points, hitting two three‑pointers and sinking both of her free‑throw attempts.
She also finished with three assists and a 1.0 assist‑to‑turnover ratio.
Whitney Chesnut scored 10 points on 4‑of‑16 shooting with a pair of threes.
She had six rebounds, including four offensive boards, along with five steals and a block.
Bryana Morgan added nine points on 4‑of‑11 shooting, knocking down one three-pointer while having six rebounds of her own.
Morgan also grabbed five offensive rebounds.
Avah Hayes contributed two assists without a turnover, and sophomore Kyra Darby recorded two assists.
Boone 43, Carroll 33
Boone held off Carroll Tuesday, January 27, securing a 43–33 Raccoon River Conference win at Boone High School.
It was the Toreadors’ first conference victory of the season.
Boone started fast, leading 13–8 after the first quarter and 23–13 at halftime.
Boone remained ahead, 29–22, at the end of the third quarter and sealed the win in the fourth quarter.
Whitney Chesnut powered Boone with a game‑high 18 points, including three three‑pointers and a perfect 3‑for‑3 performance at the free‑throw line.
Macy Chesnut added 10 points, hitting a three‑pointer and knocking down three free throws, while junior Brooke Weisbrod also scored 10, connecting on one triple and one free throw.
Junior Bryana Morgan chipped in three points on a made three, and sophomore Kyra Darby added two.
With the back‑to‑back wins, Boone improved to 4–11 overall and 1–9 in the Raccoon River Conference.
Pack the Gym on Friday
Boone returns to action Friday, January 30, hosting Bondurant‑Farrar (6–9 overall, 4–11 conference) in a Raccoon River matchup.
The game will be broadcast live on KWBG FM 101.5, AM 1590, and streamed at kwbglive.com with sports director Ryan Wendt on the call.
Friday is Pack the Gym Night (rescheduled from January 23) and features a full lineup of community activities.
