The Boone girls swimming team picked up a 103-67 dual victory at Carroll Tuesday, October, 6, getting wins throughout the lineup and taking two of the three varsity relays.

“A lot of times when we go to Carroll it is tough to go best times,” head coach Chris Mann said. “It is something about the pool or just the point of the season we’re in, but the girls did very well tonight.”

Boone started the individual portion of the meet with a tight victory from Claire Enabnit in the 200-yard freestyle.

Enabnit touched the wall in 2:14.68, edging Carroll’s Grace Schoonover by just five-hundredths of a second.

Finley Houser was third for Boone in 2:15.01.

Aleah Karolus followed with a win in the 200 individual medley, finishing in 2:20.95.

Kilee Hughes gave Boone another top-three finish, placing third in 2:29.65.

Sara Gute and Makenzie Klatt went 2-3 for the Toreadors in the 50 freestyle, recording times of 27.40 and 27.69, respectively.

Ellie Hughes added a runner-up finish in the 100 butterfly in 1:07.32, while Harper Houston placed fourth in 1:12.42.

Quinn Houston earned Boone another individual victory in the 100 freestyle.

Houston finished in 56.98 seconds, beating Carroll’s Grace Schoonover, who finished in 57.89.

Lilli Lucht took third for Boone in 1:02.43, with Enabnit fourth in 1:02.45.

“I have to give a shoutout to Quinn,” Mann said. “She has started to put the pieces together and is laying down some pretty amazing times – especially for a sophomore.”

Carroll claimed the top two spots in the 500 freestyle, while Gute led Boone with a third-place time of 6:31.00.

Cali Hernandez was fourth in 6:32.21 and Anthea Law fifth in 6:34.05.

Boone took control in the 200 freestyle relay, claiming the top two places.

Avery Howie, Kilee Hughes, Ellie Hughes and Karolus won the event in 1:45.93.

Klatt, Harper Houston, Houser and Quinn Houston were second in 1:48.52, narrowly beating Carroll’s top relay, which finished in 1:48.71.

Howie then won the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:05.00, beating Carroll’s Josie Harmon by 78-hundredths of a second.

Klatt was right behind in third at 1:06.08.

Boone went 1-2 in the 100 breaststroke.

Karolus earned her second individual victory of the meet with a time of 1:14.79, while Ellie Hughes finished just behind her in 1:15.29.

The Toreadors closed the varsity meet by taking the top two spots in the 400 freestyle relay.

Howie, Kilee Hughes, Harper Houston and Houser won in 4:00.36.

Morgan Cox, Gute, Enabnit and Ellie Hughes followed in second with a time of 4:07.59.

Complete results were previously posted to kwbg.com

“There were a lot of girls a bit upset with some of their times, but we really weren’t too far off the mark in all races, and actually put up a fair amount of best times throughout the night as well,” Mann said.

Boone now has an overall record – 23-2 and a dual meet record of 5-0.

The Toreadors next meet is the Johnston Invite, Saturday, October 10, with diving at 9 a.m. and swimming at 1 p.m.

“I think all of our girls are ready to pop off at the Johnston meet this Saturday,” Mann said.
