The Boone girls’ tennis team wrapped up a stellar season Monday, October 6, in the Class 1A State Team Tennis Quarterfinals.

The Toreadors fell 5-1 to Pella in a match moved indoors to the Kuyper Athletics Complex at Central College due to rain.

“Our amazing season came to an end with a tough loss to the No. 2 team in the state,” head coach Shawn Latimer said.

Boone’s lone point came from No. 2 Livi Schneider’s tiebreaker victory.

No. 1 Kaylee Kuehl also battled into a tiebreaker before narrowly falling.

The rest of Boone’s singles lineup — Claire Hardinger (No. 3), Juliana Lutz (No. 4), Ally Thompson (No. 5), and Olivia Conlin (No. 6) — were defeated in straight sets, clinching the match for Pella before doubles play was needed.

“A few more points at 1,4, and 6 singles, and it might have been us moving on to the semifinals,” Latimer said.

Complete match results were previously posted to kwbg.com.

Boone finishes the season with an impressive 13-2 record with both losses coming at the hands of Pella.

The Toreadors also won their home invitational.

The Dutch remain undefeated at 13-0 and advance to face Decorah in the semifinals today.

Boone will lose three seniors, Lutz, Thompson and Bunning, but the lineup remains strong.

“Seven of our top 10 are returning next year, and we hope to get back to this moment with another shot.” Latimer said.

Season records for the Toreadors are as follows:
