Boone girls’ tennis shuts out DCG

The Boone girls’ tennis team opened its season at home Thursday, April 3, with an 11-0 shutout over Dallas Center-Grimes.

The Boone girls’ tennis team opened its season at home Thursday, April 3, with an 11-0 shutout over Dallas Center-Grimes. 

“It was a nice opening night win over an athletic DCG team,” said head coach Shawn Latimer. 

At No. 1 singles, Kaylee Kuehl won in tiebreaker, 6- 7 (5), 6-1, 1-0 (7) 

The remaining 5 individuals won in straight sets. 

At No. 2 Livi Schneider won, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 3 Shannon Jenkins won 6-0, 6-3, and at No 4. Juliana Lutz, won 6-1, 6-2. 

Additionally, No. 5 Ally Thompson won, 6-1, 6-0, and No. 6 Claire Hardinger won, 6-0, 6-1. 

Three doubles teams for the Toreadors won in straight sets. 

At No. 1 Kuehl and Schneider won, 6-1. 6-0, at No. 3 Lutz and Olivia Conlin won 6-1, 6-1 and at No. 5 Thompson and Rachel Ungs won, 6-1, 6-1. 

The other two Boone doubles teams won in tiebreaker. 

No. 2 Jenkins and Hardinger won, 7-5, 4-6, 1-0 (7) and No. 4 Michaella Anderson and Rozzie Stevenson won, 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (8). 

The Toreadors will play 6 meets in 5 days next week. 

The Toreadors host Newton on Monday, travel to Eldora to play South Hardin Tuesday, head to Des Moines to play Marshalltown and Des Moines Hoover Thursday in a triangular, and host Des Moines Roosevelt and Des Moines Lincoln Friday in a double dual.
