
The Boone girls’ track and field team captured the team championship at the Don Howard Invitational Thursday, April 30 at Goeppinger Field.
Maleah Shivers earned a victory in the shot put, winning the event with a throw of 38‑8.5.
Jennifer LaMar claimed first place in the discus with a toss of 111 feet.
Boone’s 4×800-meter relay team of Finley Houser, Whitney Chesnut, Quinn Houston and Briella Johnson captured first place with a time of 10:56.76.
Ainsley Powell cleared 4‑10 in the high jump to finish second.
Taylor Arringdale earned a runner‑up finish in the 200 meters, clocking 28.32.
The distance medley relay of Halle Bailey, Taylor Arringdale, Johnson and Chesnut finished first in 4:41.01.
The 4×200 relay team of McKenzie Klatt, Avah Hayes and Mady Davidson and Tala Wittrock placed second with a time of 1:53.92.
Boone’s 4×400 relay team of Bry Morgan, Kyra Darby, Mady Davidson and Chesnut finished second in 4:35.39.
The shuttle hurdle relay of Abi Leu, Darby, McKenzie Klatt and Hadley Gustafson ended second in 1:12.90
Arringdale placed third in the long jump, reaching 14‑5.
Hayes earned third in the 400‑meter hurdles with a time of 1:16.51.
LaMar took third in the shot put with a throw of 37-08.50.
Bethany Van Dyke finished third in the 3000-meter run, finishing 13:31.79.
Kyra Darby placed third in the 110‑meter hurdles with a time of 17.33.
The sprint medley relay of Bailey, Hayes, Bry Morgan and Davidson were third in 2:04.57.
The 4×100-meter relay of Leu, Wittrock, Arringdale and Bailey placed third in 53.41.
